I got an error when checking out and now I see a charge on my card, but I didn't get an email confirmation. Did my order go through?Updated 8 months ago

If you can provide us with the email you used when placing the order or the address it was shipping to, we can check in our system to see if that went through. In all likelihood, however, if you got an error message during checkout then no order was created.

So why are you seeing a charge?

The answer is simple—you're seeing the initial authorization from when the site communicated with your card. This authorization confirms that the funds are there and will usually put them on hold in anticipation of transferring them when the order is placed. 

However, when there's an error during checkout (often due to the billing address information not matching what is associated with the card, or the transaction not passing a different validation check), then the order will not be created. So the authorization will be there, but it will have nowhere to transfer the funds. This is most often seen with international cards, but it occurs with US ones, too. 

When this happens, the authorization will drop off on its own and release the funds back into your account. Typically this occurs within a business day or two, but different banks process these things at different speeds, so it can vary. You can always reach out to your bank to see if they can void the authorization on their end to release those funds faster.

Please note that if you try to submit your order multiple times and get an error multiples times, you will see multiple authorizations with funds being held for each one. If you get an error, it's always best to double check your card info or use a different card before trying again to prevent typing up an excess of funds. 

Since the funds are never transferred to One Fast Cat, we unfortunately aren't able to do anything on our end to speed up the release of the funds back to you. Your bank will be better able to assist with any questions or details regarding the authorization.
