Is the wheel noisy? What does it sound like?Updated 9 months ago

The sound of the wheel will vary depending on which generation you have, but the overall sound level has remained consistent over the different models. Most customers describe the noise level as being similar to a room fan running at a medium setting. For most wheels, they sound similar to a skateboard rolling over concrete; the Generation 5 wheel also sounds a little bit like a train going over tracks (but not nearly as loud as a real train!). 

As a general rule, the noise will be more noticeable in large rooms with fewer furnishings and hard floors, while it will be more muffled if the wheel is kept in a space with carpets/rugs and near other large furnishings. While it typically isn't so loud as to be disruptive, light sleepers may want to keep the wheels out of their bedrooms to avoid any early wake-ups due to 3 AM zoomies.
